We are very excited to announce our Employee of the Quarter for Summer 2026: Mikayla Surprenant!
Mikayla, our Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, joined the team in November of 2023.Mikayla consistently demonstrates a strong willingness to take on challenges head-on. She approaches obstacles with determination and persistence, showing the kind of resilience that ensures she follows through rather than giving up. She is a natural problem-solver with excellent self-drive and initiative, always finding a way to move forward even when faced with barriers. This was especially evident during the transition to the new EMR, where she quickly embraced the change and helped problem-solve workarounds within the first few days, remaining consistently willing to help wherever needed to include supported busy work and set-up tasks in Ocean Friends during open time without hesitation.
As a dual PT/OT lead, she demonstrates remarkable collaboration, ensuring both teams feel supported, heard, and empowered. She is proactive in identifying scheduling needs, advocating for both disciplines, and offering thoughtful solutions that strengthen team workflow. Her partnership with the team is seamless, and she can always be counted on to complete both self‑delegated and delegated tasks with punctuality and precision.
In addition to her work ethic, Mikayla is a highly positive presence in the workplace. She contributes to a supportive and enjoyable environment, bringing energy and creativity, whether that’s brightening the space with decorations or stepping in to assist with detailed, technical requests from leadership.
When challenges arise, she doesn’t just manage them she rises to meet them with confidence and determination. She is a well-rounded team member who combines clinical excellence, initiative, adaptability, and positivity, making a meaningful impact on both her patients and her team.
Whether assisting a colleague, brainstorming new ideas, or stepping in to support the department, she brings efficiency, creativity, and a consistently positive, professional presence. Her positivity, professionalism, and team‑centered mindset make her an invaluable part of our department and company.
