Olivia started OT, ST, and PT with Tender Touch – Medical Support Services at 3-years-old due to motor and speech concerns from apraxia.
When she first started, she was non-verbal, making minimal sounds, unable to communicate her needs and wants. She needed assistance with all ADLs and demonstrated difficulty with body coordination, especially running and jumping. From the beginning, Olivia’s parents were extremely involved in therapy and willing to carry out instructions given to them by her therapist. Olivia is an incredibly hard worker and always a joy to work with.
In PT, she worked to build strength, improve coordination, and increase motor planning. She is now running, jumping, riding a bike, and attends our Rockstar Kidz workout class.
In OT, Olivia worked to build fine motor skills and ADLs. She is now able to get dressed independently, tie shoes, complete buttons and regulate her body and emotions.
In ST, Olivia continues to work on speech sounds, processing, and social skills. She is now able to hold full conversations, especially when talking about her favorite thing. DISNEY, and express her needs, wants, and feelings.
Olivia’s mom says that, “She is absolutely amazed with Olivia and all the skills she has learned and gained through the support of the therapists at MSS including the ability to get dressed independently, run, jump, and hold conversations”. After 9 years of OT and PT, Olivia was recently discharged from both and continues to make leaps and bounds in ST. We have been so lucky to see Olivia grow over the years, and she continues to blow us away with her progress.
