This fun summer activity is easy to put together, costs only around $10, and is a great sensory project for the kiddos! Our sensory bin kit can be used on days when the kiddos are bored and parents need a minute to relax. This project has brought hours of fun for these kiddos while allowing them to practice their occupational therapy!
Supplies for the Sensory Bin
- Large plastic bin
- Letter erasers
- Measuring cups
- Chopsticks
- Pom poms
- Whisk
- Paint brushes
- Tongs
- Kinetic sand
- Homemade slime
How to Use the Sensory Bin
Let your kids play however they want for the most creativity and sensory input! These kiddos loved scooping and transferring water, rice, and sand between the buckets. They are also working on sorting based on colors. With your older kids, allow them to focus more on using tweezers to retrieve letters and practicing visual scanning!
Cleaning Up
Another great thing aspect of these bins is the easy clean up! The bin doubles as storage for all of the supplies, allowing for easy clean up and set up. If you are intimidated by the mess, take the fun outside. If you are inside, put a tablecloth underneath the bins or use the bathtub for mess-free play!
Make sure you dry off everything before you store it! If you use pom poms, put them in a garment bag or pillow case and throw them in the dryer so they are ready for next time!
