We are thrilled to share the inspiring journey of a remarkable little girl, Alondra “Lo” Jimenez. Having joined our therapy program when she was just 8 months old, shortly after being discharged from the NICU, Alondra has shown extraordinary strength and resilience.
Born prematurely and reliant on a tracheal ventilator (trach/vent), Alondra’s early life was marked by developmental delays and mobility constraints due to her medical needs and extra tubing. This limited her ability to explore her surroundings independently and interact with her environment.
When Alondra joined us, she faced significant challenges. Her ability to lift her head and extremities against gravity was minimal, she was completely dependent on her ventilator, and she struggled to maintain stable vital signs during therapy sessions. Additionally, she relied fully on tube feedings and had significant oral aversions.
Enrolled in our Physical, Occupational, and Speech/Feeding Therapy programs, Alondra has been working tirelessly on a variety of exercises. These include navigating different surfaces and stairs, improving her playground skills, and enhancing her play skills. She also focuses on fostering self-feeding habits, exploring different foods, facilitating communication, and encouraging peer play.
Fast forward to today, Alondra’s progress has been nothing short of incredible. She has gained the ability to be off her vent for the entire day and can now walk independently. She engages in play, has started trying new foods, and is exploring new methods of communication. With every step she takes, she brings smiles to everyone around her. Alondra is a silly, motivated, smiley girl who is very loving and has touched all our hearts.
Her parents have been a constant pillar of support in Alondra’s journey. In the words of her mom, Josefina, “I cannot thank MSS enough for their support, services, and compassion with Lo. I initially had doubts about sending her to a daycare center, but after learning about the comprehensive therapies offered by MSS, I knew it was the best decision. Witnessing her transition from laying in bed to walking independently reaffirms that. The therapists ensure we stay connected, share heartwarming videos, and make us part of every milestone and goal. I firmly believe we couldn’t have achieved this level of progress by ourselves. This is indeed a team effort, and with MSS, we truly feel a part of that TEAM!”
Alondra’s journey is a testament to her tenacity and the unwavering support of her family. We couldn’t be prouder to share her success story, and we look forward to supporting her continued growth and development.
