What is teletherapy?
Teletherapy services provide therapy via a live video connection. The treatment session is similar to an in-person session, however it is over a computer (or other device) instead! The sessions are scheduled at a time that is agreed upon between the therapist and the family. Both parties will log in on a secure video platform. Then, they will then begin their virtual therapy session. The therapist will still use the same traditional techniques and activities they would use in a face-to-face therapy session.
What services can my child receive through teletherapy?
We are still able to offer our high quality pediatric occupational, physical and speech therapy services all via teletherapy. Your child’s treating therapist will create a treatment plan that is unique to your child’s needs so that your child can continue to accomplish their goals and make progress in their home environment
What are the benefits of teletherapy?
There are many benefits to teletherapy! Some of these include:
- It allows for continued service and progress due to the diminished barriers such as distance, schedules, travel, or a particularly prevalent barrier currently, illness.
- It increases the skills of family members and/or caregivers, since they are likely to be taking part in the session as well. Additionally, families will gain confidence in promoting their child’s skills.
- For early intervention, it supports increased carryover through a parent coaching model, routines-based intervention, and activities in the child’s natural environment.
- It integrates the child’s session into their daily life.
- It improves target areas and listening skills.
- And, finally, it is flexible and convenient and ensures consistent treatment.
How can I get started?
If you believe your child needs therapy, please contact our clinic. You can call us at (262) 287-0090, or email us at mssfrontdesk@msstherapy.net. Our front desk staff will go over an intake form with you on the phone. They will ask for basic demographic information, insurance information, therapy history, and a brief description of the concerns you would like us to address at the evaluation.
After this initial phone call, our front desk staff will follow up with you to establish a time for an evaluation. The evaluation can occur remotely via teletherapy or in-person at one of our three clinic locations. In order to complete the evaluation, we will need a referral from your child’s pediatrician. Fax these directly to our office at: 262-923-1939.
