Fun Ways to Integrate PT Exercises at Home

Bring the Zoo to Your Home – Let’s Be Animals!

Bear Crawling – Stay up on your hands and feet with your bottom in the air

  • Great for coordination between arms/legs and core activation

Crab Walking – Using your hands and feet, push to lift your bottom off the ground and try to keep your belly and hips flat like a table

  • Encourages glute activation, coordination of arms/legs, and shoulder girdle stability

Duck Walks – Squat as low as you can and keep your balance while you waddle around – make sure to keep your heels on the ground

  • Works on squat form and promotes ankle range of motion

Giraffe Walking– Walk around on your tip toes and reach your arms overhead

  • Going up on your tip toes requires lots of control and strength while reaching arms overhead challenges your balance

Dinosaur Stomps – Take big marching steps all around the house

  • Works on functional single limb balance

Frog Jumps – Squat down low and push up to jump with strong legs

  • This is great to work on coordinating jumping with double limb take-off and increasing power production in legs

Bunny Hops – Make sure to jump with both feet at the same time

  • This is a good exercise to focus on jumping forward for increasing distances while coordinating pushing off with both legs

Flamingo Stand – Stand on one leg and FREEZE!

  • Single limb balance is extremely important for stairs and obstacle navigation

Cat / Cow Stretch – While on hands and knees, slowly alternating between rounding and arching your back is a great stretch for the muscles of your trunk

  • Helps with spinal mobility and core activation

Fly Like an Eagle – Lay on your stomach and then lift your arms and legs off the ground to make yourself feel like you are flying!

  • This is a great exercise for overall strengthening
